Albert Einstein knew failure intimately.

As a child, he barely spoke, and his teachers called him hopeless. Many told him he would never succeed. At 16, he failed the entrance exam to college. After finally graduating, he applied for academic jobs—only to be rejected again and again. He took a job at a patent office, quietly pushing papers and filing other people’s ideas while his own dreams sat quietly in his mind.

But he refused to quit. Every setback pushed him deeper into the questions. In the silence of rejection, he kept writing, kept imagining, kept daring to believe the world was bigger than anyone had yet seen.  Late at night, after long days of clerical work, he scribbled equations that no one asked him to write, chasing mysteries no one believed he could solve.

From that forgotten desk in a patent office came the theories that changed the way we understand reality itself. From rejection came persistence. From obscurity came relativity. From failure came the keys to understanding the universe.

Einstein once said, “It’s not that I’m so smart. It’s just that I stay with problems longer.”

His life reminds us: Sometimes success doesn’t just come from getting all the right answers, but in asking all the right questions.

Failure isn’t the opposite of genius. It’s the workshop where genius is built.

Albert Einstein, the boy who once couldn’t get into school, ended up teaching the rest of us a few lessons.
